How to do it

  1. Lie on your back, knees bent, with a towel or belt around one foot.
  2. Straighten that leg up toward the ceiling.
  3. Gently draw the leg closer until you feel the back of the thigh.

Remember

Your back stays flat; the towel does the reaching.

Take care

Keep a slight bend in the knee if it feels strong; head and back stay relaxed on the floor.

Ask a professional first if you have:

  • recent back surgery or nerve pain down the leg
  • a pregnancy (after about 16 weeks, don’t lie on your back or belly for long, and twist only gently)

Stretch gently and never into pain. StretchUp gives general guidance and is not a medical device.
