How to do it

  1. Lie on your stomach, hands under shoulders.
  2. Press lightly and lift your chest.
  3. Keep hips and legs on the floor.

Remember

Elbows bent, hips heavy, lift only a little.

Take care

Stay low if your lower back feels tender.

Ask a professional first if you have:

  • recent back surgery or nerve pain down the leg
  • a pregnancy (after about 16 weeks, don’t lie on your back or belly for long, and twist only gently)

Stretch gently and never into pain. StretchUp gives general guidance and is not a medical device.
