StretchUp

Cat–cow

A gentle, flowing movement on hands and knees that moves your whole spine, in time with your breath.

How to do it

  1. Start on hands and knees, wrists under shoulders.
  2. Inhale: drop your belly and lift your chest.
  3. Exhale: round your spine and tuck your chin.

Remember

Move with your breath: inhale arch, exhale round.

Take care

Pad your knees with a folded towel if needed.

Easier option

Make the movement smaller, or do the seated version on a chair. It is part of StretchUp’s Chair Stretch routine.

A good moment for it

First thing in the morning, or whenever your back feels stiff from sitting.

Ask a professional first if you have:

  • osteoporosis or low bone density (avoid deep rounding of the back and strong twists)

Stretch gently and never into pain. StretchUp gives general guidance and is not a medical device.
