How to do it

  1. Step one foot forward and lower the back knee to the floor.
  2. Keep the front knee over the ankle.
  3. Shift your hips forward gently.

Remember

Tuck your tailbone to feel the front of the hip.

Take care

Stop if you feel pinching in the front knee.

Easier option

Put a folded towel under the back knee, keep your hands on a chair or on the front thigh for balance, and shift your hips forward only a little.

A good moment for it

After sitting for a long time, or as part of a morning routine.

Stretch gently and never into pain. StretchUp gives general guidance and is not a medical device.
