Chair twist
A gentle twist on a chair, using the backrest, for the middle of the back.
How to do it
- Sit tall with your feet flat on the floor.
- Place one hand on the opposite knee and the other on the back of the chair.
- Turn gently and look over your shoulder.
Remember
Sit tall first, then turn from the middle of your back.
Take care
Turn only as far as feels comfortable; don’t pull hard with your arms.
Ask a professional first if you have:
- osteoporosis or low bone density (avoid deep rounding of the back and strong twists)
- a pregnancy (after about 16 weeks, don’t lie on your back or belly for long, and twist only gently)
Stretch gently and never into pain. StretchUp gives general guidance and is not a medical device.
